Our laboratory
Our laboratory is temperature controlled to industry standards and fully equipped to test bond strength, holding power and tack; high and low temperature performance, and resistance to weathering, ageing and UV light.
We also develop and conduct customer-specific tests. The main functions of the lab:
Inside the lab
Used to prove the long term durability of our products for outdoor applications, often on our customers’ material.
Measures bond strength to various materials, and release liner values. Much of our adhesion testing is on customers’ own materials.
Measuring surface energy can be important in determining the correct product for the application.
The best reassurance of tape reliability, and probably our most useful predictor of long term performance.
All pressure-sensitive adhesives under stress will slowly flow with time, particularly at elevated temperatures. Most companies use shear only as a short term quality control test, testing for just a matter of hours. We test shear long term, sometimes for many months, and at different temperatures, so we really know that our products will perform long term.

Not just conforming to a data sheet, important as that is. Many of our competitors get this wrong. Have you ever had a complaint dismissed because the product “is to specification”?
So our first job is to understand exactly what you want from the product. Then to give you the right advice, the right product and the right service. And to supply that consistently, time after time.
Naturally, Technibond is registered to ISO 9001:2015. We first achieved registration (to BS5750 as it was then) in 1991 and have worked since then on the two cornerstones: customer satisfaction and continual improvement.
With our own quality department we can meet all your quality demands. We can supply FMEAs, PPAPs, control plans, statistical analyses and so on. But most important of all, we have a genuine desire never to let you down.
Case studies
These documents have been created to show the features of some real applications and are proving to be a useful guide, highlighting certain adhesion concepts and product features that may be important to end users or designers.
We welcome feedback in regard to the use of these case studies, and further examples can be provided for other applications.
Our customer’s specific requirement was to display a fine bone china cup and saucer inside clear display packaging. A diecut bonding part was needed to hold the two items together for safe distribution and for the period of display.
A conformable white closed cell PE foam coated on both sides with a modified acrylic adhesive, giving improved peel performance, with good high tack and shear.
Technibond bonding tapes are now successfully replacing the traditional wet mastic type seal, as they not only offer secure adhesion, but are cleaner and easier to use. HTAF and HSA for dry glazing of glass panels, to secure edge beading, for bonding Georgian and cottage bars, and for fixing cassette systems.
